the Leo Quan BadAss BASS II Bridge IS BACK

THE ORIGINAL DESIGN — EXCLUSIVE TO THE BASS CENTRE

New for 2024, the Bass Centre has commissioned an exclusive production of the classic design with un-notched saddles.

Originally created in the 1970s by Leo Malliaris and Glen Quan in Oakland, California, the Badass is one of the first commonly used retro-fit hardware for bass guitars and is famed for being installed on instruments used by such big names as Marcus Miller, Geddy Lee, Sting, and Flea.

Commented Chris Ward, Bass Centre, London tech of 40 years and an enthusiastic champion of the original design… “This un-cut configuration allows total, tailored, and bespoke fitting utilising the exact string spacing of your instrument”.

With its higher mass and precision machined zinc alloy construction, considerably less string vibration is lost to the wood of the bass, allowing the string to vibrate longer, providing enhanced attack, punch, sustain, clarity, and note definition. The Badass Bass II also eliminates inaccurate, harmonic tuning caused by round/roller saddles, interference of string ends contacting the bridge saddles, and unwanted side movement of strings and saddles, for the purest tone/sound transfer possible.

  • Direct retrofit for four string Fender style basses with bridges secured with the classic 5-hole mounting pattern
  • Original design with un-notched saddles
  • Chromed, high-density zinc alloy offers increased attack and sustain
  • Can be strung through-bridge (top-loading) or through-body

So nice to be able to get this bridge again!!
21 August 2024  |

I have been modifying basses for years. I do it for customers as well as friends. For years, I told anyone who came to me that "the only bridge I would use is the Leo Quan Badass Bass II bridge".

I had been buying ones that people had hidden away or having to use other high mass bridges so it is a joy to find that the Bass Centre has these now. Can't wait to tell my customers that they are back!

By the way, all my working basses have the Badass Bass II bridge. Nothing has the sound or the translation like the Badass Bass II.
