Part of the Bass Centre's British Bass Masters Series, the Live & Dangerous Bass celebrates one of the music world's coolest cats, the legendary Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott. West Bromwich born, Dublin bred and proudly and passionately Irish, he was a loveable rogue, an effortlessly charismatic rocker, a gifted songwriter and a truly unique performer who will forever be the foremost bassist from the British Isles that we most regret not having to the pleasure to meet.
Formed in Dublin in 1970, Thin Lizzy initially only enjoyed modest notoriety in Ireland and the UK, but by the end of the decade, had become a household name the world over with the band's most celebrated line-up (Lynott, drummer Brian Downey, and guitarists Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson) claiming their place in rock 'n' roll history with the release of three stone-cold classic studio albums within the space of three years — "Jailbreak", "Johnny The Fox", "Bad Reputation" — as well as immortalising the sheer, visceral thrill of their amazing live shows with 1978's "Live & Dangerous" LP.
Reaching No. 2 in the UK charts (held off the top spot by the "Grease" soundtrack) and certified double platinum for selling over half a million copies by the end of the following year, the Tony Visconti produced collection continues to draw critical acclaim. Although debate still rages over how much of the recording was actually overdubbed in the studio, is often cited alongside "Live At Leeds", "No Sleep 'til Hammersmith", 'Kick Out The Jams" and "Live At The Apollo" as one of the greatest live albums of all time.
Appropriating the album's title and the distinctive looks and sound of Phil's famous mid-'70s, mirror-plated, jet black beauty from the cover of the landmark double live document, this superb, premium quality instrument blends period accurate looks and classic tone with modern, lightweight construction and a super fast, satin finish neck.
With its cool retro features, authentic sound, flawless finish and expert set-up, the Live & Dangerous Bass is another super-affordable, pro-grade instrument from the Bass Centre that seriously represents astonishing value for money.

Limehouse Lizzy
Although the Bass Centre never had the pleasure of welcoming Phil Lynott through the doors of our Wapping showroom prior to his passing in 1986, we do enjoy some proximity to his enduring legend by virtue of our longstanding association with Limehouse Lizzy, the UK's most successful Thin Lizzy tribute act.
Founded in 1993 by supreme entertainer, lead singer, bassist, and Elites artist Wayne Ellis and guitar ace Greg Alcock, while both were employed at the Bass Centre's superstore, Limehouse Lizzy (named after the region of East London adjacent to Wapping) have enjoyed three decades at the top of the tribute game, with a well deserved international reputation for their fantastic, energetic live shows.
