A heartfelt tribute to the great Leo Lyons — Ten Years After founder, now with the mighty Hundred Seventy Split — this fabulous instrument is inspired both by the famous '62 Fender Jazz that the blues rock legend used at the Woodstock festival in 1969 and the UK built Bass Centre replica that has been Leo's constant live companion since 2009.With only limited numbers of the forensically distressed Woodstock Revival remaining, this new model revisits this concept, foregoing the detailed relicing and delivering a pristine, affordable instrument that combines authentic tone, classic vintage style, pro-grade build quality, an expert set-up, and astonishing value for money.
All Bass Collection and British Bass Masters instruments are re-strung and set up prior to despatch by Chris Ward, long serving Bass Centre guitar tech since 1984. Accordingly, you can choose which gauge and type of Elites Strings you prefer and specify set-up requirements (please use the "Comments" field when you check out).
In 2009, British Bass Master and blues rock legend Leo Lyons teamed up with Bass Centre founder Barry Moorhouse to fashion an accurate replica of the distinctively distressed '62 Fender Jazz that had accompanied him for almost all his live performances since Woodstock in 1969, allowing the highly valuable original to be withdrawn from active service and protected from any further wear and tear.
The limited edition result, christened the Woodstock Bass, was created with the assistance of master craftsman and custom guitar specialist Martin Sims, who disassembled and modelled the storied original using a 3D laser scanner and oversaw the process of replicating the ravages of time.
"Our task was to age Leo’s bass until it looked and felt like it had been through 40 years of hard work onstage... in just four weeks!"
Clearly, the Woodstock was to Leo's liking as the instrument has proved to a faithful live companion throughout the last decade and beyond for his tireless live schedule with Joe Gooch and Hundred Seventy Split.
